Step through the door of this elegant eighteenth-century Courthouse and come face to face with the tough Highland justice of the time; visit a prisoner and take part in a trial. This grade A listed building is the home to the museum of Cromarty and its neighbouring parish, Resolis. Its collections and exhibitions provide a fascinating (and free) insight into the past, present and future of this unique part of Scotland.
Celebrating 250 years , I absolutely glad we visited here. They are open and it's free. They have transcripts available for real example court scenario cases and its out loud in a courtroom set up. And lots of info around too. Great to go into this building and learn more about the areas history . You can even go through archives too.
A great place to learn the history of Cromerty, more than just fishing and oil! Step back in time to hear a court session on a drunken brawl in the 1700's. Very friendly staff. Local photos downstairs. Free, but consider donating.
The whole family found it an interesting experience and the person providing details was informative and friendly. Well worth a visit and a donation to them.
Nice little gem in Cromarty, a free visit, but a wee donation PS5 does not break the bank. Fully recommend also dogs allowed in
