Croxley Common Moor is a vast area of heathland and woodland situated in Hertfordshire, England. The moor is characterized by its rugged terrain, with sandy paths winding through dense thickets of gorse and bracken. The landscape is dotted with twisted, ancient trees, their gnarled branches stretching towards the sky like withered fingers. In the spring, the moor is awash with vibrant yellow gorse flowers, which attract a variety of wildlife, including bees, butterflies, and birds. The air is filled with the sweet, heady scent of blooming heather, and the sound of birdsong echoes through the trees. As the seasons change, the moor transforms, with the gorse and bracken turning golden in the autumn, and the trees standing bare and skeletal in the winter.
Amazing for cycling and walking, perfect for long walks with dogs who may get a bit wet. Not busy at all, and perfect smoothness for bikes and very quiet. Really close to a canal as well!
Absolutely stunning! A short walk from the station ... peaceful and vast open fields. A walk along the river gade with swans is an experience. We went with kids and they had a gala time walking in and out of the shallow water! Just be careful that kids stay under an adults supervision!
Such a beautiful nature and peaceful environment for lovely walks to embrace all the stunning views.
Went several times there and it is always a pleasure to walk there. For kids it is great because they can run everywhere and of you like to take pictures of flowers, butterflies and dragonflies it is a good spot.
Lovely area to walk a dog. Lots of running around, gated entrances, has several ponds and a river.
This is a beautiful spot and a great place to see wildlife including the Little Egret, Kingfishers and Muntjac Deers. Lots of dog walking paths and fully enclosed with River Gade running along one end and adjacent to the Grand Union Canal.
