A tranquil freshwater reservoir situated in the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by rolling hills and rugged mountains, offering scenic walking trails, picturesque picnic spots, and opportunities for fishing and birdwatching amidst its serene and natural beauty.
1h30 of walking to get there but definitely worth the trip ! Had a lot of fun recreating Andor scenes.
What a stunning place! Follow directions on Google maps, but it will tell you to go all the way to the dam which you can't do. Authorized vehicles only. There is parking space at the bottom of the road and it took us an hour and 15 minutes to get there by walking. Absolutely worth it!
Parked just before the train station to start our hike. Limited parking. It was very steep and in parts strenuous. I would recommend good hiking boots and fitness for this hike. It was a circular hike which was very rewarding with nice view points and of course the dam at the top before making a descent again. This walk took us 3 hours in total give or take so do dedicate a sensible amount of time. I would highly recommend.
Spectacular view from the top of the dam. Way up is quite steep and uphill all the way (around 3m) but on road surface. It's taking around 1.30 walk up or 40min uphill cycle. Worth the view.
Some great views from the dam. Came up from Cruachan Falls which was a good step workout. Bit hard on the knees going back, but we had plenty of time so took it easy. Watch out you don't corner any of the sheep as they are taking refuge by the dam. Parked just by the entrance to the train station with no hassles at all.
Absolutely brilliant place to visit. Fantastic views walking up to the dam. Amazing location. You can understand why it has been used in a Star Wars series.
