A museum showcasing a vast collection of cuckoo clocks, featuring over 700 clocks on display, including rare and antique pieces, as well as interactive exhibits and a workshop where visitors can watch clockmakers at work.
Fabulous day visiting the cuckoo clock museum, I find cuckoo clocks fascinating and the exhibits in the collection did not disappoint. The collection is owned and maintained by two brothers who have dedicated their lives to the collection, they are extremely knowledgeable about the history of all the clocks and are skilled craftsmen in clockmaking having done this since they were teenagers. I was able to get a quote for the repair of my old clock and look forward to collecting it fully restored in a couple of months time. Also a good excuse to go back and have another look!
Had a privilege to see some of the collection today. It's being moved to Ireland. Maz was very kind to show us round despite the fact it is officially closed. Unfortunately one of the brothers-Roman,who was part of this undoubtedly charming cuckoo clock wonderland, passed recently. I take my hat off to both of the gentlemen for the amazing passion and regret I have only now learnt about this quirky, yet magical place. The time will never stop... PS. The two doggies (roties) are so well behaved and well trained.
Been to the cuckooland place today (you must phone and book first) what an amazing place to visit run by 2 brothers, they have a vast knowledge of them and who they once belonged to, lots of history to each piece. They also repair if anyone wants one fixing. The detail in one piece of wood they are carved from is very detailed in every way. You couldn't choose 1 clock as a favourite as every one was different in detail and very different, there was carved birds, hares, boars, and even conkers well worth a visit. Cash only as they don't take card
Unbelievable number of cuckoo clocks as well as the antique machinery and tools used to produce them. Felt guilty that I did not look at every item but it's overwhelming. The carving on some (made from one piece of wood) was outstanding. Not only do they collect they also repair and their expertise and knowledge is utterly remarkable. Must book in advance don't just roll up.
Fantastic place. Learnt a lot about cuckoo's. Wonderful people made us feel very welcome
What an amazing place! I visited Cuckooland this afternoon and found it both intriguing ... and quite educational! But how sad that this privately run and owned museum has no sponsors or backers. Their collection is huge -(I think they are confident that it's the largest collection of cuckoo clocks in the world). But you leave worrying what will happen to this huge, amazing and unique collection when Roman and his brother can no longer run it themselves. I feel very privileged to have seen and visited this wonderful museum.
