Dams to Darnley Country Park is a 1350 acre country park in East Renfrewshire and Glasgow, in Scotland, comprising the historic greenspace between the towns of Barrhead and Newton Mearns in East Renfrewshire, and the areas of Darnley, Parkhouse and Southpark Village in south Glasgow. The Country Park is made up of a mosaic of different habitats, providing homes for many species of plants and animals. These habitats include semi-natural ancient woodland, grassland (including scrubland and hedgerows), open water and wetland. Each habitat has its own distinctive biodiversity.
Unusual and rural feeling park land just south of Silverburn. Paths are well kept and meander through woodland following the Brock Burn towards the reservoirs at Waulkmill. I quite literally got lost so a good idea to have your phone handy as there are multiple paths and directions you can wander off into. There are signposts but they really aren't all that clear either. Whilst maybe not the best views as the foliage is so dense there are lots of nice flowers and glades to enjoy. I'd recommend for dog walkers more than trail walkers. Difficulty of terrain: Easy
I would say it was a good walk but we were looking for waterfall and couldnt find it, even with the map So disappointed
Nice place for a long walk with the dog round the waters. Spotted a lot of green algae under the railway bridge. Be careful if your dogs like to jump in the water. Also people in swimming in the algae water. Parked on Aurs road, a busy road with limited parking, and walked down to the waterfall then under the railway bridge.
I come here with family, multiple access points with select areas of parking. This place is beautiful all year round. Really a quick getaway for a breather and just to enjoy the out doors. Three well kept areas for picnics with tables and bins carefully placed around. This is a place between Giffnock and Newton mearns so very local if your from around here. Activities such as kite flying, bike riding and motorised boat playing are perfect here. Also a great place to get your steps in as the scenery does not get boring. There is a beautiful waterfall followed by a reservoir with ample space to walk around and enjoy the day. Definitely a must visit as its worth checking out!
Amazing views, and a great place to have your daily walks/picnics :)
Beautiful conglomerate of water reservoirs, woodlands, and grassland habitats, nesting geese and swans and if you venture little deeper in the Woodlands you might spot deer.
