This 90-acre nature reserve features a variety of habitats, including woodland, grassland, and wetlands, providing a home for a diverse range of wildlife. The reserve's woodland is dominated by ancient trees, including oak, beech, and ash, while the grasslands are awash with wildflowers in the summer months. A network of footpaths and trails allows visitors to explore the reserve, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. The reserve is also home to several ponds, which attract a range of waterbirds, and a variety of small mammals, such as rabbits and hares.
Nice place only found in today but you need to take your machete with you because it's a bit overgrown
Great place for a little walk. Great blackberry picking. Plenty of wild life. Wellies or good footwear required during the wetter months.
A hidden away walkers paradise. Whilst not the biggest of woods, it does offer great views of the River Derwent in summer and a nice circular route. Can get boggy after rain so where the right shoes!
My greyhound and I love it. Pheasants and rabbits to chase and lots of bracken for them to dive into. Greyhound skin is surprisingly thin and he stops dead! So lots of running and no casualties.
Darley Abbey Nature Reserve is a beautiful place to walk around. I'm just sad I missed the cows that go there through the summer months. So I will be back for photos next year
Easy parking at this point but you can get to it from the village by the toll bridge. It's a beautiful quiet walk. There is a fenced in route and the dogs love it. Plenty of sniffs!
Good for kids
Dogs allowed
