This museum showcases the history and heritage of Dartford and its people, with exhibits on archaeology, medieval and Tudor periods, and the town's role in World War I and II. The museum also features a recreated Victorian street scene, a collection of artifacts from the Dartford Grammar School for Girls, and a display on the town's industrial and commercial past.
Every town has a history to tell and to find out more about Dartford this small museum is milestone. Having lived in Dartford for 7 years, I have not visited this museum but this week decided to go. Main entrance was closed and with an assistance of library staff managed to visit via library. Did not know Dartford has that long and glorious history. Recommend every Dartfordian to pay a visit which does not take long. Hats off to those who decided to keep the history alive.
I've been visiting for almost 70 years. Admittedly I lived very close. I last went a week ago and still enjoyed it. I particularly like the display about Kerr's shop but as a child I loved the sink hole display. Dr Mike Still is very helpful and knowledgeable
Lovely town museum, most exhibitions are well presented and informative
My friend wanted to print some official papers, the photocopier was not working but Liz took the time to show my friend how to use the printer and did most of the work. A star. All the staff were so friendly and helpful.
A wonderful talk by an expert on Samuel Palmer, to accompany an exhibition of his works and contemporary artists inspired by him.
Free to visit. The entrance is closed, but you can get into the museum through the library.
