A 19th-century tower built to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee, standing 85 meters tall and offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from its observation deck.
Surprised you can go inside and up the stairs. Cracking views and some lovely walks to get there. Id recommend taking the path directly from Darwen town as there's a beautiful river that's worth a look on the route. Also free to enter and get around.
Cool place could do with more signs like watch your head going up the tower I bumped my head at top but yes nice views lots of benches no food places or toilets or any bins that I seen ..a bin or more bins are needed
Great country walk, bridle pathways are quite rocky, best if you wear walking shoes, if not, trainers are sufficient, the tower itself has 2 floors, don't forget to go all the way to the top.
Not too long a walk, some steep places, fantastic views from Tower at the top a litre dependent on the weather. Pass through a nice park on the way
Beautiful tower with absolutely brilliant 360 views! You can go inside and climb the spiral staircase to the the top for an even better view (free). There are benches to sit and enjoy the view and rest after the walk up. Its a fairly easy hike up to the tower but lots of loose rock under foot. Lots of wildlife to see on the route too.
Nice walk, plenty of bins on the way up which means no litter on the landscape. There was no one about which meant we got to climb the tower which was great. Felt safe but very windy!
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
