With 11 rooms over 3 floors the Museum is famous for its display of Piper Bill Millins' D-Day bagpipes. Packed with artifacts the displays in Dawlish Museum are regularly updated and depict life past and present in the town and notably tell the story of the February storm of 2014 which severely damaged the railway line and even includes up to date information on the current seawall improvements. A vast archive of 100's of rare historical photographs can be seen in album form , artwork or on the rolling images on the computer. This seasons main display is called ' Dressed to impress!' and features ladies evening wear and accessories from the Victorian age right up to more recent times. There is also lots to do for the little ones. A must see
A lovely museum and well worth the climb up the hill. Plenty of local history as well as all you need to know about Brunel's railway and the big storm in 2014.
There is so much to see. Great place to see how life really was. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Dont forget to donate on your way out. Will definitely go again to see all the treasures i missed the first time
Nicely curated little town museum. If for no other reason, it's well worth visiting to see the Piper Bill Room and learn about one of the most extraordinary solo exploits of WWII.
Very nice museum. Great artifacts and friendly staff. The bagpipes are great to see, but also many other exhibitions. Cash only, and easy access from the nearby carpark.
Very interesting museum and only PS1 to go in
The displays they put on never disappoint. The dioramas are well made, and I do love the displays that show off the town. Friendly staff know their history and are always willing to help. Worth coming back each season to see what they have in store.
