A large man-made lake in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, England, surrounded by picturesque hills and woodland, offering scenic walking and cycling routes, water sports, and fishing opportunities, with a visitor center and cafe providing information and refreshments.
We had a great picnic here. Beautiful scenery and clean area and facilities.
Amazing views and walks good trout fishing location aswell
Lovely walk around the Reservoir 11 miles total at some points you have to use country roads. But no heavy traffic. A very rural walk with lots of places to picnic also loads of information points identifying the local wildlife. If you plan your walk well, you can benefit from the cafe at the visitor centre. Also located there is a kids' playground and a dog enclosure to let the four-legged have a good run. I also have to commend the Northumbria water staff and how pleasant and helpful they are. We were greeted by one member at the car park. Then, further on, when we strayed onto an anglers access path, another member of staff steered us onto the correct path.
Spent around 4 hours here and did a lengthy walk around the reservoir. Very nice cafe and play area for younger ones. Also a gift shop which sold drinks, ice creams etc. However these items were fairly overpriced which is why only 4 stars. Well marked out paths and routes.
Lovely reservoir great for walking and joining the boating club.
Love this place , it has various places to walk around , have picnic with the family and even allows fishing if that's what your into. I take my dog on a weekly basis and she loves it, as well as the kids. Nicely managed walks and is even a place for star gazers if that tickles your pickle.
