A medieval stone bridge over the River Lledr in Ceredigion, Wales, with three arches and a steep, narrow passageway, surrounded by lush greenery and offering picturesque views of the river and its valley.
Lovely place to visit, parking on both sides of the bridge although there's not a huge amount of parking. Food, drinks and ice cream, and amenities (50p charge). It's a regular meeting place for bikers too. Access down paths to the river where there's plenty of rock ledges to jump into the river from. The bridge is quite high and some people are jumping into the river from it. The town centre is very nice with a variety of shops and places to get food and drinks. There's also a hardware shop which is open on weekends too, which saved the day for me following a vehicle fault I had on my visit.
Brilliant location for bikers and families. The kids will love it, walks splash about in river picnics. Public toilets and snack van, good parking. Very enjoyable day out.
Gorgeous spot to visit. Amazing driving roads around the area too and some tiny roads you can properly get lost on.. i did near Barbon and it felt like I got lost at the top of the Forza Horizon 4 map! Definitely visit again to explore more
Great way to start your visit to Kirby Lonsdale Bridge steeped in history. Great views and access to the bridge's history.
"I do not know in all my country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine." 19th century art critic, social theorist, painter and poet John Ruskin. We parked for free near Devil's Bridge, which is medieval in its structure and shrouded in folklore. With three spectacular arches, this bridge dates from the 12th or 13th century and is a scheduled ancient monument. From here, we took the river walk towards the Radical Steps, which are extremely steep, and saw herons successfully fishing from the River Lune. There are various places where you can walk right to the water's edge and admire the rushing water as it cascades downstream. Unusually, we saw an albino/ light grey crow here too with a black crow building a nest together. Walking up the 42 Radical Steps (built in 1820 to prevent people using the public footpath through Doctor Francis Pearson's garden!), we were rewarded with a stunning view at the top known as 'Ruskin's View'. It was beautiful - especially as we saw it on a late summer's evening as the soft light lit up the hills spectacularly. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
Wonderful old bridge. Traffic isn't allowed to cross. Great views on both sides. Access down to the river, steep climb on one side. Good walks in several directions along the river and up into the delightful town.
