This railway museum showcases a vast collection of locomotives, carriages, and railway artifacts, offering a nostalgic journey through the history of British railways. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring iconic trains, learn about the evolution of rail travel, and even take a ride on a vintage train.
It was a lovely day out with the granddaughter. The centre is a bit dated, but this adds to its charm. The prices are very reasonable compared with other places we've been. Most things are included in the entrance price, and those rides that aren't are only 50p.
Excellent day out and fun for all ages! 3 kids aged 6, 3 and 11 months old all had a great day. We spent 6 hours here.. A miniature railway, plus larger steam one. A soft play, outdoor play areas, indoor play sheds in real train carriages which have several intricate model railways with plenty of buttons for the kids to press and steps for them to see the layouts properly. Also sandpit, ball pit, wooden rail track to play with and a model village, mini golf area. So much to do.. Could have stayed longer! Only big bear is the extra cost to do some of the ride on vehicles (all the above was included in price) . I feel these would be best included in the price
Aug 2024 ** second visit 2 years later. This place is a little gem! Still lovely and we spent 5 hours here which broke up a long drive. My 6-year-old enjoyed it, and also liked the chalkboard, giant connect, park, crazy golf and ride on bits. Cafe was fine, very basic jacket potato but kids lunch box was good and pasty. Staff are friendly- we love this place!! 2022 - Review - Visited today with my husband and 4yr old son to break up a long drive home to West Sussex. We arrived around lunch time and parked for free no problems. Surprisingly it was lovely and quiet! My son adored and was in ore of the model railway inside the carriages! It was fab and we spent a long time watching the trains. We spent the entire afternoon exploring and playing. Loved the gnomes!! Cafe was inexpensive but bog standard no frills food. Toilets clean and staff welcoming! We had a lovely day here and we all really enjoyed it. Not too big and exhausting to get around and is pitched for under 7s. My son also enjoyed the soft play, train and sand pit.
Brought my autistic son here today with my wife and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It's a quaint little site packed to the brim with lots of trains, we particularly enjoyed the railway models in the carriages and the ride on trains. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great day!
A variety of of things to fascinate little people all day; several locos to go on, model railways to interact with, indoor softplay & outdoor play areas, gnomes everywhere, cafe & picnic areas, easy parking. With river & pub easy walking distance even for toddlers (although there is no path on the road bridge)
After trying to find somewhere interesting for the whole family for one of those days where it's going to mostly rain but have dry spells occasionally, we discovered this, and what a find! Kids will love the parks, in door play, soft play, outdoor fun such as the model village with interaction buttons, park areas, crazy golf plus the rides (which they can drive themselves!), Miniature rail, narrow gauge rail, model rail and so much more! It really is a great place to visit for the whole family (especially the train obsessed dad's)
