We are now OPEN for the 2024 season. Daily from 10.00am with last entry at 3.30pm ( from Saturday 27th April until Sunday 29th September) Dewstow Gardens & Grottoes, near Chepstow are a wonderful place to wander around, with beautifully landscaped paths and decorative beds, rock gardens, waterfalls and many ponds, but it's Dewstow Grottoes that make this place really fascinating. . Please be aware that we reserve the right to close the gardens on occasions for private events. These will always be posted on our website and social media pages well in advance.
A really lovely little place, we've been planning to go for a while and finally made it as they announced that they will be closing at the end of this year. Lots to explore and look at, I'd recommend bringing a picnic and a ball so you can sit on the lawn outside the house and get a little more from your visit. There's water and ponds throughout, so make sure you have good footwear and keep an eye on little ones. The only downside for me was price. We paid PS27 for 4 people, and you do get through everything quite quickly. We also paid PS1.50 for a little fairy trial activity, which really should just be free. It's a piece of paper and a little scavenger hunt. The cafe was open to serve hot drinks and snacks but not food due to staffing and spent another PS11 on ice cream and coffees. Overall a wonderful little hidden gem that I do recommend you go and see before they close. I think adults will appreciate it more than children as they seem to fly through it and then they're done! Take items to bulk out your visit and ensure you're there for more than 90 minutes!
Amazing! I've had this saved on my list of places to go for years but I've never got round to it. When I heard they were closing this year I realised it was time to go. Absolutely beautiful gardens, the grottoes were great fun, the kids loved them, and a really fun fairy/gnome trail. The cafe was closed when we went but that didn't matter as we'd brought a picnic with us. Definitely worth a visit before they close in September
Stopped off on the way to holiday. Well worth the price, children under 5 are free which is great. Good way to spend an hour or two with it without kids. Semi pushchair friendly though we managed with ours with some placing needing 2 people.
What a great place, a true hidden gem. A friendly welcome from Lisa, the gardens are beautiful, the grottoes are fantastic. The gates close permanently on 29 September 2024, enjoy it while you have the chance
A lovely hidden gem in Wales! Make sure to stop by before it permanently closes!! Tickets are a reasonable cost and so is the coffee shop. There is a lot of parking. Staff were friendly but the coffee was ridiculously hot! So be careful and don't sip it until it has cooled down for at least 5 minutes. The grounds are lovely and there is a lot to see and stroll around. Maybe takes about an hour/90 minutes doing it leisurely, or less if you are by yourself. A real treat and sad it is closing down. You can also pop by to caldicot Castle close by and make a day of it.
My first time visiting Dewstow Gardens and Grottos and what a beautiful place it is. Very sad to hear they will be closing their doors in September, so make sure to visit while you can! Lovely coffee and cake selection in the cafe too! A great few hours out.
