Great place to go so much history. Including medieval and onwards, the WW2 tunnel tours were great, and all the guides were brilliant. We turned up 2 adults and one child, and it was more cost-effective to get the 1 year English Heritage membership as there was a 20% off.

Went there and was shocked how big the place was took pretty much a whole day to get round (fairy fit adult). Thousands of stairs and steps so great work out. Lovely place your views are amazing ended up getting a membership works out cheaper in the long run. The history of the place was something else seeing it close up and being able to walk around was amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

I grew up in Kent so Dover castle was always a school trip when I was younger and then somewhere I took my own children. I visited on this occasion with someone who'd never been before. A lot had changed since I was last at the castle. The cafe was amazing. Lots of great choices. Prices were high as you'd expect but for the quality, I personally felt it was worth it. Great for families as they do a lunch bag for children. But I think if you can take your own then of course it would save money. The staff in every area of the castle were lovely! Everyone we spoke to was informative and happy to answer questions. The wartime tunnels is something I've not done before so I was keen. You have to wait (not long) as tours run every 20 mins or so. The only negative to the day was that we struggled to hear the tour guide in the tunnels. There was audio playing which was quite loud in places and we had no chance of hearing the guide over it. I would say that perhaps this needs looking at but it was still a valuable experience.

Fantastic visit! Be prepared for lots of walking and would recommend a full day, or even split across 2 days if you are a member. Some fabulous interactive things for kids and the wooden play area was great. Only let down was a few of the refreshment places were closed so those that were open were very busy and ran out of main things before lunchtime like kids bags. Wartime tunnels is a must, recommend going early as queues can get busy.

Dover Castle is a true gem of medieval architecture! The site impresses with its grandeur and rich history. Perched on a scenic hilltop with stunning views of the English Channel, the castle transports you back in time. The preserved interiors and guided tours provide a deep dive into England's history, from Roman times to World War II. The underground tunnel network, which served as command centers during the war, is particularly fascinating. There's something for visitors of all ages: interactive exhibitions, picturesque gardens, and the chance to climb the castle towers. Highly recommend if you appreciate history and beauty!
