A scenic reservoir surrounded by picturesque countryside and rolling hills, offering walking trails, picnic areas, and opportunities for birdwatching and fishing.
Beautiful scenery, there were a little rocky/sandy beach too. Lovely day out. We walked about 5 miles. It has ups and downs, so the surface is not flat which we liked. There was a pay and display carpark but the security didn't let us in as it was full. We parked up the road. Free of charge. Went in beginning of August.
On a warm sunny Sunday before a Bank Holiday, parking was atrocious. We had to park on a side street in town and walk back. The area was beautiful, well looked after and a terrific day. This was not my first time there NOR will it be my last
Absolutely beautiful location. Loads to do depending on what you go there for. You can take a picnic with the family/friends, find a spot to settle, and enjoy a full day of sunbathing, weather permitting, we are in England! Get your hiking boots and backpack on, and take a walk or hike over the moors, and try to locate the Dovestone rock. Amazing views, so great for photo spots. Take a gentle but lengthy stroll around the reservoirs. Designated paths that are easy to follow and you can push prams along there or ride bikes. There is a boating club that can be joined if that is what you are into. There are plenty of little sandy areas where you can take a dip in the water and let the kids play in the sand. There are remembrance areas for those that have passed away. Lots of information boards are scattered around to show which wildlife and birds are in the area to spot. Great for teaching the kids and giving them something to look for whilst walking around. Parking can be a nightmare due to how busy it gets. So research the area first so you know where to park without getting fined. There are public toilets in the main carpal, but no others whilst walking around. You have to pay to park on the main car park which is by card only. There is always an ice cream van parked in the car park. Card only, and they make brews as well. There are no other shops, though. Fantastic area, we visit a lot as we are local. Well, it's worth a visit if you enjoy any of the above.
