Englands Fairy and Hobgoblin Sanctuary. see the rediscovered works of Victorian "fairy" professor Howland. In Beautiful woods near York see dragons nests, giants swords, fairy pixie and hobgoblin doors, and not forgetting the wonderful fairy museum. Special events take place throughout the year and in winter parts of the gardens are lit. We also have a maze and a wonderful cafe / bar. Please book online - last admission 90minutes before closing. Accommodation also available.
Great place, easy to find with a decent sized car park. We spent a couple of hours there, walked round the beautiful natural gardens the paths were easy to walk on and were fairly flat. Lots to see, imaginative fairy sculptures We had lunch in the cafe, good choice of cakes, drinks and sandwiches all looked lovely. The museum was small but magical, we all loved it.
An absolutely magical adventure! A stunning and peaceful woodland that is home to a plethora of fairy folk. Be careful on the driveway into the site, as it is very bumpy - take it steady. Our family had a peaceful walk along the path (about 3km, including getting ourselves lost in the maze). The path is buggy accessible, but admittedly a tad bumpy (however, our 6 month old baby found it hilarious and giggled for most of the route). Keep an eye out for doorways on trees, dragon nests, giants' swords, freshwater mermaids, trolls under bridges and hobgoblins! The fairy museum hides a secret, make sure you open the wardrobe door! If you have a tot who is giving up a dummy, they can pop it through the letterbox of the Dodie Fairy! Our five-year-old was absolutely enchanted; the trail is just long enough to keep a child engaged without getting bored, and not too long that they're worn out. The cafe serves food fit for Queen Mab, and the kitchen elves do a fantastic job! The tea pots are huge!
Went last bank holiday with my baby and wife! Fantastic place to visit even on a cloudy day. Beautiful woodland walk made magical by all the fairy stories, lights and sounds. Cafe is beautiful and the staff are second to non. We will be back here when our baby is walking and for the experience days eg Christmas and Halloween! Just amazing can't believe I didn't know about it before!
Our adventure to the dreamery was absolutely out of this world!! Upon arrival Myself, my husband and our 5 year old son were transported into a magical mystical woodland!! I dont want to give anything away but it is worth every penny and we will definitely return one day!!
Dreamery Gardens exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment you enter you get a sense that you are somewhere magical. The attention to detail is fabulous and there are things to look at every few metres; from fairy houses galore to stories from the past, the willow maze to gorgeous sculptures. It absolutely captivated us. The museum is adorable (don't forget to open the wardrobe) and the effort that must have gone into cultivating it blows my mind. The cafe is stunning, with real trees growing through and beautiful arts and crafts touches. The food was utterly delicious and I would highly recommend it. We had so much fun and it was a wonderful family day out.
A truly magical place right in the heart of the woods. Both my 2 and 5 year old girls have had the best day (and mum and grandma loved it too). A lovely thought out trail through the woods with surprises along the way. I enjoyed reading the folklore and stories on the information boards during our walk. The dragons nests were a personal highlight for me. The trail is not challenging terrain and suitable for prams but wellies or boots when it's wet weather would be sensible. I feel like many of these negative reviews are unfair. I thought it was very good value for money. In the summertime you could spend an entire day here wandering in the woods. We are planning our next visit already. Another little Yorkshire Gem
