Discover 40 acres of historic gardens, with expansive lawns, beautiful borders, historic parterres, heather houses and more to explore. Younger visitors will love a day out in the much-loved adventure playground. Larchwood Cabin Cafe onsite for delicious light lunches, refreshments, hot and cold drinks and ice cream. Plant sales available. Please note Castle opening times are limited - see website.
Attended the Galloway Country Fair. It was a great day out for children and adults alike.. I will definitely be back next year and hopefully explore the castle grounds a bit more..
Really lovely place. Gardens and playground are outstanding. The plants to buy are outstanding too
The adventure playground here is well worth the trip and the little cafe is handy for a hot coffee for the adults. Lots of space for picnics and lots of room and activities for the kids to run around, could easily spend a whole day there which makes the travel worth it. The flower garden is also gorgeous.
The playground and gardens are great (but expensive - PS20 for family of 4) but the cafe is poor. Boring, stale overpriced sandwiches (the cheese is like plastic) with no salad in them, in thick plastic boxes, takeaway drinks in non-recyclable cups. Please improve sustainability and choice to match the rest of the environment. Worth coming but bring a packed lunch!
Kids loved it even in the rain. Food and coffee out the shop was surprisingly good too.
A wonderful place with beautiful surroundings and terrific Christmas fair
