For me, there are too many aspects of the museum that need improving to make this attraction more than 3 stars. Firstly, there is no limit to the number of people allowed in. A large school group arrived just after we had paid our entry fee. With the number of people already in the museum, it made it almost impossible to listen to the information given by various attractions. Headsets would have helped, or the museum could limit the number of people in their time slots like other attractions do. There is an awful lot of information to read. Way too much for my liking, especially as it was busy and, in some places, very dark. A couple of the electronic information units didn't seem to work. I don't think it was a user error. As I have already mentioned, it was difficult to hear what was being said due to the volume of people talking and, in some cases, shouting or fooling around. School children just being school children, or was it their teachers / guardians not controlling them? The walk up the 96 steps to the top of St.Micael's Tower is on modern steps and is wide and easy. I wouldn't describe the views as spectacular. Better views can be obtained from The Gravity Bar. At least it only cost EUR15 for an adult entry.
Dublinia is an engaging and interactive museum in the heart of Dublin, offering a fascinating look into the city's Viking and medieval past. The well-designed exhibits feature detailed recreations of Viking Dublin, medieval life, and interactive displays that bring history to life. It's ideal for families, history enthusiasts, and tourists. Knowledgeable staff and stunning city views from the museum's tower enhance the experience, making Dublinia a must-visit attraction.
Really interesting, interactive, and fun museum. The layout forces you to explore in an organized way so it's not good if you want to linger in one area or go back to another area to look at something again (or wait for a less crowded time). The mannequins posed in each area helped my understanding of how people really lived and worked (and pooped, LOL). I really enjoyed the section on diseases and medical treatments. Definitely head up to the tower lookout point for a great view of Dublin. Careful of the telescopes, they don't allow for small adjustments. I whacked myself in the chin with one (I am fine.)
Excellent explanation of Dublin's origins from the Viking period until mid-sixteenth century. Videos, displays, and slightly creepy mannequins illustrated key points. At the end you ascend the tower of the deconsecrated church that houses the museum for views across Dublin.
We had no idea about the Viking history in Dublin so we decided to visit Dublinia Viking museum. It was very fun and informative. It wasn't too busy and there was lots to see and discover. The walk up the stairs to the top of the tower is hard work but well worth it for the fantastic views of Dublin. Great value especially if purchased with the Christchurch combo ticket.
Great place for a brief retrospect and reflection of Dublin and it's colorful history. They put hard work into the setup, and it's really worth visiting. There's a neat little coffee shop within, with very friendly staff. As a side note, the place has an elevator and is wheelchair accessible.
