This nature reserve features a variety of habitats including wetlands, woodlands, and wildflower meadows, providing a haven for local wildlife. The site is also home to a variety of plant species, including orchids, wildflowers, and trees, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and botanists.
Absolutely beautiful place with views of surrounding hills and mountains. It is great for a slow walk around to try and spot the various wildlife living there.
What a beautiful place! As soon as we entered we saw an Osprey fly past with a fish, then a Heron! Lots of spiders and insects, Roe Deer and Warblers.
Lovely walk round with great views. Dogs allowed on lead, excellent walkway but likely slippy if raining/icy. Parking on the lane but gets busy with train cafe customers. The willow hides are really well built with info boards and inside one, a board to mark the birds seen. Not overly long, 30 mins if slowish to see what you can see!
Great place to view birds, the feather kind! Board walk easy stroll for wheelchair users otherwise inaccessible place, not much space to overtake as the board walk only accommodates width wise one wheelchair, can be muddy in wet conditions. The gates are heavy and need assistance in opening and closing them. There is the station food place to have a cuppa and bite should you feel peckish afterwards.
Amazing little nature reserve, well worth a wander around as the bird feeders seem to be topped up regularly and the site is maintained very well. Much better than any of the nearby Forest England sites, unless you're into clear felling and non native species
Not too long a walk but a pleasant one... and it's wheelchair accessible.
