Duddas Wood is a scenic woodland area located in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England. The wood is situated near the village of Rydal and is surrounded by picturesque hills and mountains. It features a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, including oak, beech, and pine, which provide a stunning display of autumn colors. The wood is crisscrossed by several walking trails, including the popular Duddas Wood Trail, which offers breathtaking views of Windermere Lake and the surrounding countryside. Visitors can explore the wood's tranquil atmosphere, spot local wildlife, and enjoy picnics amidst the beautiful scenery.
A lovely little wood which is very well cared for by the woodland Trust. Can be very muddy in places over the winter but nothing wellies can't handle. A couple of gravel paths bit mostly unsurfaced. Radar keys on main gates onto the woods. An excellent place to walk dogs.
Beautiful spot with lots to explore just a shame theres not much places to park.. just have hope you are lucky to get there when no one else is with a car.
Beautiful place and a bit muddy, bring your Wellington boots
Beautiful and peaceful safe to walk with my two little men
Best to walk there. Plenty of options for footpaths, very limited (free) parking best kept for disabled visitors and those with pushchairs etc. Be prepared for mud. Picnic opportunities in Derrington Millennium Wood but since the sad closure of the Red Lion, no facilities or refreshments available nearby
We went on an autumn walk to get leaves for school project ( leaf rubbing)was still really pretty with all the coloured leaves on the trees and ground . It had been raining so make sure you wear wellies as the grass is still long and its very very muddy and slippy. And watch for dog poo as a lot of dog walkers dont pick up and bag it. Watch out for tree roots also as they are hidden in the mud and leaves and I tripped a few times. I walk with crutches so its a bit touch in places like the steps at one end, and the roots and slipping. But it is lovely and peaceful and petty. Well worth a trip kids will love the nature and great for photos
