12th-century castle remains with informational boards detailing its history & dog-friendly paths.
Castle is well maintained (for a ruin!) and the signage is useful to help make sense of what you're looking at. You can access lots of little corners including the 'fallen down' part. Bonus points for having a great little coffee place on site which we were not expecting but took full advantage of. They had some vegan/gluten free cakes and biscuits as well as 'normal' ones, and a full menu of coffee, iced coffee, syrups etc. You could even buy badges and magnets with images of the castle for a good price, although I thought PS28 for a print of the castle was too expensive.
What a stunning little castle/ ruins to visit! I brought my whole family as part of a day out in the area and everyone was pleasantly surprised with how well kept and maintained this is for a free entry location. The coffee truck with ice creams and hot drinks was most welcome with seating and a portoloo too! I could have easily spent the day there it was wonderful. Wouldn't recommend prams or wheelchairs at all.
Very unique and beautiful place. Perfect for people who loves history and old ruins. This castle is close to RAF airport, so you can also see military plain landed! It's a parking there and you can buy coffee and food.
Nice little find duffus castle not far from Elgin. A nice walk round the ruin of a castle. Peaceful but you can see the jets doing their train from near by. Beautiful views to be seen for miles around. Well worth a visit. X
Despite being rotten weather we enjoyed it exploring the ruins and surrounding walk over the old bridge. Wee pop up cafe at bottom selling much needed hot drinks
