Easter visit. So this is a must do road (A821) if your best friend is a motorcycle. I really enjoyed the challenge of driving it's 5.7 miles. Although I don't fancy it in snow and ice, there are warnings that some of the road is not treated in bad weather, you'll understand why. We started at Aberfoyle and went through to Ben Venue Car Park. There's a view point available with free parking and a picnic area if you want to take a break at the top and absorb the fabulous vista. This is available at Three Lochs Forest Drive. There is a charge for parking on entering the road to the lochs at the far end of the free parking area. It was naturally windy and cold on our visit, exactly as expected.
Great drive! Very popular with cyclists.
Beautiful, as always!
It's a very windy road that has no signs to indicate just how tight and slow you should be going for some of the bends so be careful. It is also frequently used by cyclists with not many clear places to overtake. Fun for an experienced driver or motorcyclist on a clear quiet day but if you are not such a confident driver or any of your passengers suffer from car sickness at all then you should take the longer route from Kilmahog.
Did this road on my old Norton Commando 2 years ago. Very twisty road with tight bends that keep you on your toes and just jump out in front of you. Don't rush and miss the scenery. stop in places to take in the view. Not easy to park in a car but some small pull ins for bikes to stop. Some of the bends have gravel in the middle of the road. If you fancy it GoApe along this road just outside of Aberfoyle have a very long zip wire ride.
Beautiful scenery and a cracking road for motorcyclist, cyclists, walkers... everyone!
Good for kids
