This 12-acre park features a beautiful botanical garden, a tranquil pond, and a variety of walking trails, including a sensory garden and a wildlife trail. Visitors can explore the park's many attractions, such as the glasshouses, the rock garden, and the children's play area. The park also hosts various events and activities throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, and nature walks.
I don't leave a lot of negative reviews as I try and always be positive about everything in life and this park has a lot going for it and could be really great with some TLC. It's a huge park with an interesting history to it. Walking distance from the town centre, train station, football ground, free car parking, nicely laid out and so much potential Looking a bit run down, the wooded walk is a no no, park on the other side of the underpass is neglected and the beautiful bandstand (Victorian?) looks lonely and out of place and also needing a bit of care & maintenance. Overall a nice place to walk and to kill a bit of time while enjoying the peace & quiet but it could be so much better
Such a beautiful park and it's huge! So glad we decided to take a trek up to the park. Its such a lovely open space would be great place for a picnic. Nice big section for kids and family. But plenty of space to get away from the noise if you just want to take in the view and if you go to the higher spots you get one amazing view. The only downside for me is I wish there were more benches especially in the lower sections of the park.
Great park with good playgrounds for the kids and in summer there's lots of exercise classes on. Steep hill if you're walking up from the train station which is at the bottom of the park. Great for dog walkers too.
A nice park to walk in, central to the town and train station but safe for dogs to run about. Quite a traditional open public park. There are other nearby parks with good amenities for children to play but I like the public park for including nice trees, open grass, shrubs and decent paths. Oh and dont forget the bandstand, sadly not being used these days.
I only walked through it to get to carnagie hall for a show the paths where really mucky as they were doing work in it but if looked like a nice place to go in summer for a picnic
