A historic maltings complex turned museum showcasing the region's industrial heritage, featuring exhibits on the malting process, local history, and a collection of vintage vehicles, set amidst beautifully restored buildings and picturesque surroundings.
A hidden gem in Great Dunmow. Really lovely people and fantastic exhibits showing the hidden history of the area. Thought the staff were exceptional!
Hired for private birthday party - incredibly helpful through the booking process and flexible with arranging arrival times and post-party clean-up. Would highly recommend for local events!
We made a journey to Dunmow specifically to see the Maltings and Museum, paid for parking and then found that it was closed. We were within the opening times stated on the website and the [locked] gate. I asked at the library if they knew of any reason it would be closed and was told that it happens regularly with no explanation. I suggest phoning before trying to visit. However we phoned the advertised number while standing outside and went straight to a Tesco mobile voicemail.
What an amazing place. We visited here with Spectral Hunters for a paranormal investigation. We had great evidence and would definitely go here again as well as doing another paranormal investigation with this team
Fantastic museum, with so much local history. Reception couple were lovely and welcoming with their Springer spaniel. (It actually made my day as we had recently lost our Springer four weeks ago at the grand old age of fourteen).. Lovely to see that pupils from the local primary school had made a quilt square each..some had photocopied photos on to material which made it very individual and thoughtful.
Great place to visit. Very informative and, in places, amusing. Lovely, friendly volunteers staffing it. There is no cafe, but there are plenty on the high street a short walk away.
