East Grinstead Museum tells the stories of the history of East Grinstead and the surrounding area. It also tells the remarkable story of Sir Archibald McIndoe who helped pioneer plastic surgery and the men he operated on, who formed the Guinea Pig Club.
It's a really interesting museum worth a visit. It's close to high street and it's free. A good part of the exhibition is about Sir Archibald McIndoe, the Guinea Pig Club. This club was formed by members of the RAF in World War II, whose burns were treated at the Queen Victoria Hospital by pioneering surgeon.
For Mums with children very interesting & interactive visit to local museum. A great place to be educated about East-Grinstead through the years (peaty there are only one museum, we love to go to the museums, as the result we have been hear many times). The war & the burns patients "guinea pig club". What is great I found this year - for half-term they organize an amazing activities for kids and history walk. Free entrance no parking but car parks very near.
A small museum but packed with information about East Grinstead and it's history. There's also a section focused on the innovative plastic surgeon McIndoe and the Guinea Pig club from WWII that's very interesting.
The staff was so kind that explain us details of history of East Grinstead. Small but very informative exhibition. We enjoyed it and bought a post card for my family. It's free but I donated PS5. You should visit here if you come to East Grinstead.
A small museum showing local history and Mc Indoe and his Guinea pigs. A must for plastic surgeons, the exhibit is small. Don't miss the amc Indoe statue in town
Really intresting and informative. The 2 ladies at the desk were so intresting, I didn't want to leave. The museum is fairly small but full of factual items. What a lovely trip out.
