This memorial commemorates the East Kirkby Aerodrome, a former Royal Air Force (RAF) base that operated during World War II. The memorial features a bronze plaque mounted on a stone plinth, surrounded by a small garden. The plaque displays the RAF crest and bears an inscription that reads: "East Kirkby Aerodrome 1942-1945. This memorial marks the site of the former RAF airfield which played a significant role in the war effort."
Popped in whilst on a bike ride. Very friendly, nice place to sit down, you don't have to pay to get in the museum. Lovely cup of tea, and a great slice of cake. If you're on your bike anywhere near, make sure you call. Super atmosphere. It takes a lot of dedication to keep the memories alive of the brave men and women who fought for our freedom. I did have a quick look in the hanger, will call to see the Mosquito when I get a chance. Excellent. Went back another day, very moving indeed. Especially the plaque about the Quinn brothers in the chapel.
Amazing historical destination and so well put together. Well worth a visit
Amazing ! Mosquito and Lancaster planes to view and see taxing. Historical cafe full of memorabilia and the most amazing hidden gems - buildings of historical facts and stories. Climb in a cockpit in the plane shed and see engineers working on the planes. An absolutely fantastic day!
What another superb day. Do wish we lived closer.
We loved this place, if you're into aviation and anything WW2 then this is the place for you. Reasonably priced entry, great gift shop and lovely food. The Lancaster Bomber is very impressive, especially when they taxi is out of the hangar and start up those 4 Merlin Rolls Royce engines.
An amazing place. Lovely to see and hear Just Jane taxing, giving pleasure to so many people.
