East Lodge Way In is a historic entrance gate located in the New Forest National Park in Hampshire, England. The gate is a charming, rustic-style entrance that marks the beginning of a scenic walking trail. The gate is adorned with a wooden sign bearing the name "East Lodge Way In" and is surrounded by lush greenery, with tall trees and overgrown vegetation creating a sense of seclusion and tranquility. The gate itself is made of wooden posts and rails, with a small pedestrian gate on one side and a larger gate for horses and cyclists on the other. The surrounding area is perfect for walking, cycling, and horse riding, with the gate serving as a picturesque starting point for exploring the beautiful New Forest.
Simply, free way into Lyme Park. A little trek to the gate (opening times 07:00 - 20:00) from the lay-by but a pleasant walk all the same.
Brilliant location. Weekends early always some space. Nice walk to Lyme Park from here, or short walk up to the Black Rocks (behind above the farm) opposite with a panoramic views over Lyme and all the way to Manchester.
Great way in, really glad someone added this to maps. NOTE: It's not for cars, it's a footpath!! There's a tiny lay-by here to park in, but I bet it fills up super quick at peak times. Follow the path without deviating and you will pop out at the East Lodge gate into Lyme. Carry on straight from there to get to the house and cafe. If you do park in the lay-by, I also strongly recommend climbing the little ridge about 300m South East of there. You get a great view of the cage/Lyme estate against the Cheshire plains backdrop. Follow the footpath sign through the farm to reach the top, via a zig-zag in the path.
Nice alternative entry to the main route in but disappointing that it is locked at 4: 30pm as this seems a little early on a lovely summers evening.
Brilliant walk to a beautiful place
