A 10.25 inch narrow gauge steam railway that runs along the western shore of Eastleigh Lake, offering a scenic ride through woodland and lakeside scenery, with a variety of steam locomotives and rolling stock on display.
We really enjoyed our trip out on the trains! It's a fair sized length to the track that does a loop into the playground (where you can jump off for a stop) and then back to the station. They have a large variety of trains, we saw about 5 different ones on the afternoon we was there, but looked like they had loads more as well. Tickets can be picked up from just inside the station, there is also a gift shop there as well as the cafe. As a plus, the parking outside is free! A wonderful afternoon on the trains!
Great afternoon out. You can start in the cafe and get some nice food with a fair amount of choice, it's a little expensive but it is good quality to go with it. The railway I good as you can get a return ticket so you can get off at the lakes and have a little walk around them and if you have small ones then there is a fenced off park area near the station to visit. The trains are good fun, and they have space for a buggy or two if you need to take it with you to the other end. The return journey is a bit more scenic and features the tunnel, which, if you have children who are sensitive to loud noises, may be unsettled when they go through it.
Great service, perfect for kids, decent on site cafe, plenty of outdoor views and picnic spaces. Couldn't recommend it anymore... One downside is that the local park needs some needed TLC.
Loved it. Took my boys when they were young, now my grandson. Staff are very friendly. Clean and tidy site. A great little ride. Free parking for upto 4 hours so plenty of time to check out the park and break your train journey.
The staff were all lovely and accommodating towards the children. It's a lovely place to walk around, have a picnic, feed ducks. The cafe was lovely as well, especially the carrot cake
Really enjoyed this experience, it brings out the child in you. Great fun and lovely engines
