Eastridge Woods is a tranquil forest located in the heart of the English countryside. The woods are characterized by towering trees, including ancient oaks, beeches, and pines, which provide a canopy for a variety of wildlife, including deer, badgers, and birds. The forest floor is covered with a thick layer of leaves, ferns, and wildflowers, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of blooming plants. A network of winding trails and pathways crisscrosses the woods, inviting visitors to explore and discover hidden clearings and secret glades.
The mountain bike trails are great, good technical (if short) cross country route, and some nice enduro downhills. The major issue at the moment is the single track road to the carpark is in a shocking state, with massive pot holes, it needs urgent work and resurfacing.
Me and my son planned a nice morning doing the red route. We have done the red route at Cannock Chase with ease. I knew we had maybe got it wrong visiting Eastridge judging by the access road. It's a severely potholed single track road. We drive a 4x4 luckily. I don't think you would get to the car park in a 'normal' vehicle. The red route is well signed from the car park and there is a map showing the whole route and each sections name. The problem is it is definitely on the black end of red. Lots of big slipperly exposed roots, very steep drops and difficult turns, again all containing roots. We had to walk several parts of the first section as it was too technical for us. Nothing like the red at Cannock and other reds we have experience of. Luckily a sign after the first section said if this is too much for you there is an escape climb back to the car park. Which we took and went home. If you are a skilled mountain biker and can tackle black and red runs, you will have a blast. It just wasn't for us sadly.
Visited for the DH bike tracks...Free parking although quite a trek down a holey lane. We were on e-bikes which are perfect here, the climbs were steep for the amount of miles covered but very doable. Loved the tracks, quite natural, steep in places but great for practicing and progressing. We went after a lot of rain and although we got muddy, it could've been a lot worse! Didn't even need waterproof jacket. Picturesque views from the top! I will be back
This place has some of the best flow trails in and around Shropshire and The student Champs trail is one of the best there is. Beautiful scenery and the option to ride Stiperstones or The Flying Scotsman to finish just makes it an incredible place to ride. You will need to be a good intermediate rider at worst but it is a great place to hone your skills! Oil Can is a great trail too! The place rides well all year round. Be respectful to both the trails and walkers if you are coming!
Wicked little place some nice downhill runs. Red route is a bit more challenging than the average red compared to something like cannock chase. Free parking is a bonus!
I go there once a week seriously, I've met pro riders to amateurs that have cycled eastridge trails , and they all love eastridge , stick to the red or black trails and they reward you with a great smile , but try the offpist trails they are awesome, only about 6.5 miles on the red but probably the hardest 6.5 miles anywhere
