Located in Edale, this flagship centre of the Moors for the Future Partnership provides a national focus for moorland research and an inspirational experience for visitors to the Peak District National Park. The Moorland Centre's design reflect its upland setting. It has a living roof of sedum turf which acts as an eco-friendly insulator, and the building is fuelled by an energy saving ground-source heat pump. Edale is at the start of the Pennine Way and our experienced team are here to help you make the most of your visit to this spectacular area.

I recently stayed at the Fieldhead Campsite, which was fantastic! But I was also looking forward to the fact that the Edale visitor centre was right next door, as it was my first time visiting the peak district. However, the entire weekend I was there, it wasn't open once. I was pretty disappointed, and every time I checked to see if it was open there were no opening times on view and only a stand by the door to say it would be back open at a specific time, which it never was. The time didn't seem to change either, so I was unsure of when it was even last open.
The staff were very helpful, they got some good basic gear for hiking but, not all maps are free which is understandable. They only cost are PS2 and gives you the layout of the area in Edale.
