Eglinton Country Park, located between Irvine and Kilwinning is home to Eglinton Castle. Free to enter, the park boasts miles of paths perfect for walks, horse rides, or cycles. For kids, there are play parks, huge open green spaces and a fun STEM trail for exploration. There is a cafe, an informative visitor centre, and a ranger service which run a fantastic programme of wildlife and nature themed events.
It's big. Plenty of space to wander around and signs explaining the local floraabd fauna are good for children. Excellent cafe, but we found no visitor information centre where mobility scooters and trikes are supposed to be available. The paths we found need some maintenance, but on a good day, it's one of the best places.
Beautiful country park with free parking. Great play park for the kids and a lovely walk and old castles ruins to explore. The cafe on site is also good with friendly staff. Highly recommend.
I came here for a dog walk and it was lovely. There are so many paths and it's very well maintained. There's lots of space for dogs to exercise and some things for you to see too. Plenty of parking. I didn't visit the cafe but it's worth noting there's one there!
Lots to see and explore, frogs, dragonflies up close and plenty of space to run around and burn off steam for dogs and children alike
Great park with cafe and large grounds. Perfect for a day trip or a stop off before the beach!
Brilliant country park with a ruined castle at it's heart. Ample parking and a lovely cafe serving (among other things) delicious smoothies. The walk from the visitors centre to the castle, over the river via a pretty bridge and back again over an even prettier one was easy, accessible, and well sign posted. Although the castle is a ruin, there's plenty to explore and the layout is still clear to see. The play park is a real gem, I've never seen one with such a variety of equipment! Will definitely visit again if we're in the area.
