Eglwys Faen Cave is a limestone cave located in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales, UK. The cave is a significant archaeological site, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Mesolithic period, around 7,000 years ago. The cave's entrance is a large, imposing archway, and its interior features a series of narrow passages, towering stalactites, and stalagmites. The cave's walls and ceilings are adorned with ancient cave paintings, including red ochre depictions of animals, humans, and abstract symbols. The cave's unique features and historical significance make it a fascinating and educational attraction for visitors.
This was amazing, a highly recommended experience. Try switching off the lights in one of the deeper chambers and being still for a moment. A group of first-timers, had a blast!!!
Wasn't many people around. The cave itself was rather easy but very exhausting for a first time person doing caving. There was some tight areas with water knees deep and smaller so I would recommend a guide if you visited so you can have the best and safest experience. DJ from Rock UK based in South Wales was our guide.
