This 15th-century church stands on a small island in Lake Vyrnwy, surrounded by picturesque countryside. The church's stone walls are adorned with intricate carvings, and its interior features a stunning timber ceiling, ornate wooden pews, and beautiful stained-glass windows. The tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking views of the surrounding lake and hills make it a haven for those seeking peace and contemplation.
Such a beautiful easy walk! Interesting little church and Gothic graveyard! Definitely will visit again!
Stunningly beautiful place, easy short walk. One of the most picturesque and peaceful places to visit.
An amazing place .amazing history .just wonderfully feeling then walking around the place . Parking is about 25 min away then walk .you wouldn't think it would be there .free to go in .walked all around the church and then the grounds. After.that went in to the town for lunch and a river ride .loved it .
It's the place that convinced me to live in North Wales. Serene. Beautiful. They have leaflets and books inside showing the churches history that you can buy via a donation box. Tiny church with very little in there, but that's exactly what makes it special. Walk around the island and visit the war graves (the church has a leaflet telling you where they are and giving you the history). Go to the top of the island and visit the war memorial. There's far reaching views including am amazing view if Britannia bridge. If you're lucky a train will be crossing under the motorway. It's literally a double decker bridge.
Church Island is a lovely tranquil place for a mooch and to absorb yourself in the history of the island. Some stunning views all round, especially from the war memorial at the summit. Second time of visiting and the 15th Century church was open this time. Incredible piece of local history. Its just a pity so many graves have been neglected and fallen prey to mindless vandals. Overgrown in many places, headstones damaged, statues and pillars decapitated and bricks through tombs. Would take a good while with a team of volunteers to sort it out
A well preserved historical Anglican church along with a graveyard. The church and its surroundings were beautiful.
