This scenic trail takes you through a lush valley and alongside the River Elan, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The trail's main attraction is a series of stunning waterfalls, each one more breathtaking than the last. The waterfalls cascade down the rocky slopes, creating a misty veil that rises into the air. The trail is surrounded by ancient woodland, where you can spot wildlife such as red kites and peregrine falcons. The path is relatively flat and well-maintained, making it accessible to walkers of all ages and abilities. As you walk, the sound of the water grows louder, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of wildflowers. The trail culminates at the base of the largest waterfall, where you can picnic or simply sit and take in the natural beauty of your surroundings.
Very beautiful place to spend a day out with family and friends. This waterfall was a spot on place to take some beautiful and stunning photographs. Parking place here is very limited and you have to look out when the place is empty. But a stop at this place if you are visiting elan valley is a must.
Absolutely stunning! It's my new favourite place in Wales & I can not wait to go back. We spent almost 6 hours here on a relatively dry May bank holiday. Whilst we went to see the dams we underestimated how much walking was involved between each one. The map I picked up in the visitor centre didn't help at all. We managed to see two, with the first one just behind the visitors centre and the second next to the Penbont House Tearooms and B&B. Thankfully just following the very accessible path made it easier to navigate our way as we didn't really know where we were going. We know you can drive and park between each one but we wanted to soak up the scenery because it is gorgeous. Fresh air, the sound of water and wildlife was just what was needed for a glorious day - if, like me, you like that sort of thing :) If you're not interested in walking there are car parks at each point and one car parking pass covers all. There aren't many points where there are facilities like toilets though. The visitor centre does have them but check opening times. If you do enjoy a walk in the outdoors then this will not disappoint and I highly recommend a visit.
Decided to park by the roadside waterfall as labelled on Google Maps and take the southbound path back towards the bridge, then do the whole circumference the north reservoir, a total of 6.2 miles incase you wanted to know! not too arduous but it had been raining so some muddy paths, but what lovely scenery! 2.15 hours well spent.
This is a truly magical place just off of the road and not commercial in any way
Nice little waterfall at the side of the road, room for a couple of cars to stop enjoy right next to it
Beautiful little stop off to enjoy from the road side or get interactive and walk in the water & alongside the small Waterfall.
Good for kids
