One of the most intact ancient monasteries, this 1091 Benedictine church is surrounded by ruins.
This is one of my favourite things to do. Wonder around historical ruins soaking up the atmosphere. Imagine how life must have been. Well done to English Heritage for taking care of these places. Beautiful views all around, lovely, peaceful place to relax on a sunny day. The Dairy House cafe is next door for lunch or just a cup of tea and a cake.
Great little find on the way to Wells next the Sea, free to park and walk around. Toilets on site and handy dog bin. Really lovely cafe next door with fresh milk and produce. Great coffee too.
Very nice place to visit. There is a good-sized car park on site, and information boards dotted around the site. Dogs allowed (plenty of people walking them) and some really nice views of the surrounding countryside. Quite close to Warham Camp too if you like historical places of interest!
There are currently no lines or changes. You are free to explore both the indoor and outdoor areas on your own. There are a few informative signs posted around the area for tourists.
Very interesting place to visit, beautifully kept. A few more information boards could have been helpful but this is a free site with upkeep from English Heritage so don't let this put you off. If you are in the area, well worth a visit, surroundings are stunning and the history is interesting. A great cafe next door as well if you have cycled over a couple of Norfolk hills to get there.
Super historical site to explore, check website for church tours. Small parking area and free to look around, dogs on leads. Really well set out and helpful info boards across the site.
