A bit bare which may sound odd but still beautiful. Not sure if the staff there are overly interested. Quick to mention your expected to donate but lacking information about the history. Where as the smaller church on same road much more interesting with someone very keen to part there knowledge.also the resting place of French queen ( the church not the cathedral)

English Heritage's Abbey of St Edmond is unique and has a stunning range of historic architecture, including lovely gardens, as well as fascinating use of the ruins for dwellings. So much to view, and Bury also has an extensive shopping experience, again with many historic buildings and streets.

The lovely Abbey of Bury St Edmunds is definitely worth a visit. In the centre of town next to Norman Tower & Abbey ruins, so much to see. Inside the Abbey is pleasing, light & well kept. In the process of removing old oak pews & replacing with wide light beech chairs. Lovely stained glass & architecture. Helpful staff, a pleasure to see our old abbeys so well cared for.

Bury St Edmunds Abbey, managed by English Heritage, is a fascinating historical site. The ruins are impressive, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and the informative displays enhance the experience. A must-visit for history enthusiasts!

It's definitely a place worth visiting... if you pass by, or at least you already have other places on your list to visit. I won't be putting this place on top of my list. It's nice for a walk..

Great town. Lots of varied shops, the old favourites plus good independent stores. Super weekend market. Beautiful gardens . Lots of historic sites. The Abbey ruins and cathedral are well worth a visit. Went back on a weekday to do the tower tour of the cathedral. The tour guided were excellent.
