Used by the town's once-flourishing yarn trade, this octagonal pavilion is now a local landmark.
This is managed by English heritage not national trust. Built in the early 17th century, this historic structure in the heart of Dunster is charming and well-preserved. It offers a glimpse into the village's trading past. Quite a short attraction, some information by the side. Very close to car parking and shops.
Yarn Market is not a lot to see, but Dunster itself a lovely town and I was enjoying the shops there and a little walk. I have not seem the castle and the watermill as that was 17PS and I di not have a day to spend there, but sure these are worth the look as well. ;)
The architecture & shape of this small structure is wonderful!! The inner roof shows clearly the craftsmanship of a bygone era.
We were lucky to be able to listen to some great music by an orchestra that happened to perform at the time of our visit to the Dunster castle and the village.
The iconic Yarn Market at the top of Dunster High Street was built in 1609 by George Luttrell, Sheriff of Somerset and the keeper of Dunster Castle.
A beautiful historic timber building set within the heart of the medieval town of Dunster. There are history panels to read within the building and links to the castle at the top of the hill. Parking is available nearby on an hour or longer which is free or in the nearby car park which is a pay and display.
