This 200-acre reserve features a variety of habitats, including wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, which provide a home for a diverse range of wildlife, including birds, insects, and mammals. The reserve has several walking trails, including a wheelchair-accessible route, and offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Visitors can explore the reserve's many features, including a lake, ponds, and a sensory garden, and can participate in guided walks and educational programs. The reserve is also a popular spot for picnics and relaxation.
Ok ok so I say this a lot but this is officially my favourite place to visit. Follow Google maps and it will take you down a little road right in front of the entrance. Not much parking here but you can park on the adjacent roads. When you start your walk you will see a couple of children's playgrounds. Pass these and just walk towards the small bridge. You will see the pathway splitting three ways. Take either as you'll eventually end up back at the bridge. If you chose to start to your left please be mindful that the farmers field borders the reserve and there are horses there, so any adventurous doggies should be kept under control. Once you pass this you can let them off in the forestry area but again make sure they're under control as there is lots of wildlife about. This place is massive and just goes on and on, we're definitely going back as soon as next week
A lovely spot to relax and enjoy a great walk along the canal. The local volunteers have/are doing a great job of keeping the place nice and clean and tidy. While there keep a eye out for some lovely water voles and fantastic wildlife well worth a visit
