This nature reserve features a variety of habitats including woodland, grassland, and ponds, providing a haven for local wildlife. The centre offers interactive exhibits, educational activities, and a chance to get up close and personal with the region's flora and fauna. Visitors can explore the surrounding countryside along the many trails, spotting birds, insects, and small mammals in their natural habitats. The centre also hosts events and workshops throughout the year, making it a great destination for nature lovers and families alike.
A very nice cafe indeed. There is a decent range of beverages, food & ice lollies especially on a hot day. Very dog friendly and they have purchasable dog biscuits too! Plenty of seating available and a lovely place.
I highly recommend the bat walk. Our guide was informative and enthusiastic. The walk was amazing where bats of differing species were found using bat detectors. The sounds the bats make will stay with you for a long time. Thanks for all concerned.
It's a great little place nestled away at the bottom end of Belfairs Woods. A nice range of gifts and cards, some nice fresh cakes, good coffee and a great range of ice creams plus some hot and cold lunch options. A real suntrap and great starting point for a walk in the Woods
Perfect for walking the dog with the family. Really enjoyable guided nature walks also.
I didn't really visit the centre, only the cafe and the large woodland, both of witch are nice. With care the woodland can be navigated by mobility scooter even now in February. Lots of people walking their dogs.
Lovely little woods and nature reserve in a middle of Southend suburbs. Plenty to do for just about anyone. There's a hack trail for pony and horse riding. A woodland play area for children. Public golf course. The Essex Wildlife trust has a nice little cafe. Acres and acres of woodland paths to walk with the dogs. And nearby there's also a nice pub.
