This nature reserve features a large reservoir surrounded by woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats, providing a haven for wildlife including birds, butterflies, and dragonflies. A network of trails and pathways allows visitors to explore the area, with hides and viewpoints offering opportunities to observe the wildlife without disturbance. Interactive exhibits and displays in the nature discovery centre educate visitors about the local ecosystem and conservation efforts. Regular events and activities, such as guided walks and birdwatching sessions, are also available.
An array of birds and wildlife to see along with different trails of unspoilt beauty. Walking to the Fishing Lodge is a must, sitting outside being joined by ducks and swans intrigued to see what we are eating. You can hire out rowing boats too,if it takes your fancy. A must for nature lovers!
Amazing place . Great for a long forest style walk , beautiful scenery , cafes are brilliant and clean , tidy and staff are always lovely and polite .
Beautiful location and perfect for a healthy and easy trek. We came on a beautiful, hot day but had no difficulty going on the large route around the grounds as the trees provide excellent shade and cooling.
Went for autumn walk and also to find out about access for my husband who uses a mobility scooter. The man on the door gave us a map and explained which part was accessible and which corner wasn't. They have a sturdy mobility scooter that can be borrowed and can be booked on advance. We walked from Visitor Centre to the Cafe on the Water and back. All hides were accessible. Both centres had toilets suitable for disabled people and parking for people with blue badges. As you can see from the photo's they also have a trail for children of all ages!
Peaceful place even though there were a lot of kids there it was still nice to be there. You can take a nice walk in nature.
Great little place to stop for a coffee after you've walked round the reservoir. Limited choice of grub though. All volunteers I believe. There's a shop with bits and bobs like binoculars and books and bags and bird food and so on. Sit and watch the birds (and squirrels) on the feeders whilst sipping a latte. Easy place to while away an hour or so.
