Scotland has produced some of the world's most successful plant hunters and this truly unique garden, celebrates their contribution to the way our gardens look today. Conceived as a Theatricum Botanicum, and built in conjunction with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in the late 1990s, the Garden offers stunning spaces for art performance including the Pagoda, the Pavilion and the Amphitheatre. The opportunity to experience art in nature, in a stunning Highland location is a rare opportunity and one for your theatre to-do list. The Garden is also available for private events and makes a breathtaking wedding venue. Closed now for the winter months the Explorers Garden will reopen in 2024.
Mum and I spent a few hours meandering through the garden today. It truly is special, full of life and a treat for all the senses. I am looking forward to coming back in a few weeks to see the changes in light, structure and colours. I even managed to do a wee painting while sitting having a chillax.
Lovely gardens to walk round, peaceful too nice benches all the way round to stop and relax, got some great ideas for my own garden, some plants I've never seen all labelled, plenty parking spaces nice short walk over the bridge into Pitlochry
Absolutely peaceful. An awesome walk around the Explorers Garden. Surprised at how many explorers never made it back home. Beautiful. Saw the blue poppy from Himalaya.Very peaceful just birdsong.
Live locally and shockingly only visited for the first time this year. Far exceeded our expectations, the garden is stunning, much larger than we imagined and so many beautiful points of interest. Garden Manager Caroline is so friendly and knowledgeable and a one woman wonderwoman working so hard to restore and breathe new life into the gardens. A must visit if you are in Pitlochry! You won't be disappointed. Tickets are purchased from the theatre, who also have a lovely outlook to enjoy before or after you visit the gardens. 5 stars
Tidy and dog friendly. Downside is there are no rubbish bins withing the gardens. Took approx 1hr to appreciate the full garden all whilst carrying a poo bag. So had to wait til back at main car park for a bin
Visited with friends yesterday and loved the garden. We came on it by chance and it was amazing. Should be better known. Wonderful old trees, lots of interesting benches and drystone features as well as great planting. Met Caroline and was a great source of information and has obviously worked wonders in the short time she has been there. Definitely worth a visit.
