A tranquil oasis nestled in the heart of Oxfordshire, Eynsham Abbey Fishponds Walk is a picturesque trail that meanders through a serene landscape of ponds, lakes, and woodlands. The gentle rustle of leaves and soft chirping of birds create a soothing atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic. The walk takes you past the remnants of a 7th-century abbey, its ancient stones now cloaked in ivy and moss, adding to the sense of history and mystique. As you wander along the winding path, the sounds of nature and the soft lapping of water against the shore create a sense of peace and tranquility, making this hidden gem a must-visit destination for those seeking a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Small but a lovely walk. Great for meeting people and other dogs. Can go through to the football field and walk into Eynsham. We do a circular walk which includes the fish ponds. Always meet nice people and their dogs which is lovely. Not a large or long walk. Circular which makes it difficult to get lost in. Relatively even path. Excellent in summer as it's quite cool in the wooded area, and dogs can take a dip in the water.
Beautiful little nature reserve to walk around with the dog
Nice short walk. Quite overgrown in the middle. 0.6 miles circuit
I love the fishpond. Well cared for and used by the community for picnics and dog walks
A level and easily accessed walk through trees and water meadows. The site of an ancient Abbey and settlement , the paths have plenty of visitor information boards. Close to the centre of Eynsham but a tranquil place to visit.
A nice little walk for 15-20 mins with our preschooler. Had to stay on the path, though, due to the crazy amount of nettles, and couldn't see/get to the pond on the little circular path we took.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
