Stuart monarchy palace with tapestries and painted ceilings, plus tennis court dating from 1539.
This Palace is beautifully maintained inside and out. The gardens are stunning. There is a gift shop there with coffee and biscuits on sale. The staff are very knowledgeable about the Palace and provide a lot of useful information as you pass through each room. Tour groups are welcome. We were a couple and bought concession tickets at the door. If you're a UK resident it's best to join the National Trust
Gorgeous castle with furnished interiors, including beautifully restored tapestries. Knowledgeable staff dressed in historic costume. The garden, meadow and nearby lomond hills frame this palace with lovely views.
Worthy of a visit lasting several hours - the palace took around an hour to visit (many guides in the rooms, enthusiastic and informative, noting Roderick), whilst the gardens took longer - these were more extensive that I imagined in this village. Saw the Royal Tennis court, orchard and kitchen garden, great views of the surrounding hills make for a photography heavy experience.
We found the Palace to be very interesting. Upon entering, we were met with a very informative but strict member of staff who complained about one of our party having a bag. (Resulting in a 4 star rather than 5). When we reached the second level , we met with a fantastic guide who showed us all the details, including many small mason markings on the stone work and very intricate details on the bed and the martial chest. The entire palce felt very welcoming and the grounds were amazing. 100% recomed
Fabulous palace with informative guides in the rooms. The gardens are stunningly beautiful and peaceful.
Even was a rainy day we had fun , it's a beautiful place and interesting
