Volunteer-manned, narrow gauge steam train running through 14 miles of rural pasture and forests.
Booked a train ride on a wet and rainy day in North Wales. Saw some great scenery on the journey and stopped at a nice tea room for an hour or so until we had to return. Had lunch in the station bar that was excellent and not too expensive either. All five had a hot meal for under PS50.
Impressively strong and beautiful steam trains all kept shiny by staff and volunteers, taking happy customers on excursions around the area. We went to Beddgelert and had a lovely time in the little town and walked down the gorge to picnic and skim stones. A lovely outing in the sunshine.
An absolutely brilliant time at the Ffestiniog Railway yesterday. An early birthday treat for my partner and we, and the dog, enjoyed it immensely. There was nothing to fault. The staff were extremely friendly, funny and very knowledgeable and stopped to speak to us when they passed by. We did have a carriage to ourselves on the outbound journey, a bonus. What made the day even better, was that due to traffic, the train had literally pulled out as we got there, but I doff my cap to Rich, who drove us to the next station in his own car, a few minutes drive away and stopped the train, sterling job Rich and many many thanks from the 3 of us. The staff have got to be proud of the work they do at the Ffestiniog Railway. Only downside, the weather was a bit dreary, but didn't stop us having a fantastic day.
Nice experience. Friendly staff. A very pleasurable journey with a one hour stop over. The cafe at the end is nice and reasonably priced, as is the shop. It's not cheap, but nothing is these days and I think the cost was absolutely worth it. If I visit this part of the world again I will book for another ride
We had to journeys over 2 days. Both were fantastic and well worth the money. The engine's are highly maintained and the rolling stock cared for. The scenery was out of this world. All the staff we encountered were very nice.
We had a great day out on the train. We sat in the old cheap seats which did mean we got some soot on us but that just made it more exciting. The views were outstanding and not restricted by the carriage doors. The staff all seemed very kind and knowledgeable and you could just tell that they loved their jobs.
