Very clean and tidy. Comfortable bed. Hot tub cleaned daily, double shower for two, deep bath big enough for two. Microwave oven coffee maker dishwasher kettle fridge with small cool box, gas bbq washing up liquid sponge dishcloth all provided. The retreat has a small shop and Restaurant the food is okay the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The cabin was a lovely place to stay. Lovely forest walks. Not too far from Winchester. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. we got the welcome pack which included pastries, coffee tea, sugar biscuits logs for the log burner well worth the money. We highly recommend the cabins. Hot tubs emptied before your arrival and refilled. Checked every day by staff. Beautiful scenery and walks. Very dog friendly.
Lovely, relaxing setting to enjoy a family holiday. We stayed in cabin 54 which is a pet friendly disabled unit. ||The disabled facilities were great for my dad, and the cabin was completely accessible. ||We had a problem with our TV but this was fixed within the hour after reporting it on the app. ||Great location for long dog walks, have a relaxing drink in the restaurant and enjoying a Prosecco in the hot tub. ||Team were very friendly and welcoming throughout the week.
Was recommended this place and it hasn't disappointed. The place is big and has everything you need. The hot tub is an added bonus. Unlike other popular resorts you can't see your neighbours but a forest instead. Totally peaceful and quiet. Beautiful wals in the forest. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The welcome was warm and kind. Would definitely recommend and will visit again.
Booked a 'hideaway' cabin believing that we wouldn't be around/visible to other cabins but we could see/hear 6 other cabins from our decking. ||The cabin itself on initial check in looked lovely and clean but on deeper inspection there was shampoo in the shower and food under the sofas in the dishwasher and around the bin. Given the fact the cleaners have almost 4 days to clean from one guest checking out to the new guests checking in we were not impressed. ||They must of been doing lots of work on other cabins because of the amount of noisy jcbs driving past for most of the day. Which you can imagine wasn't the peaceful experience advertised. ||However the staff were lovely at reception/ bar area. |We had breakfast at the onsite restaurant which was delicious. |Beautiful walks around which the dog loved. |The hot tub was amazing. ||The question is would we stay here again? The answer is unfortunately no. It wasn't worth the amount of money we paid.
The place would be tricky to find without satnav. Checking in was easy...don't forget this is really a forest so the roads around the place itself are rough. We had a golden oak lodge with hot tub, bbq and tree house. It was a big lodge which housed 9 of us. It was very clean when we arrived. All glasses, cups, plates, the bbq itself worktops and furniture all spotless. Hot tub was ready to go. The shop can cater for most needs though it's a tad expensive. The TV...if you want to watch TV that is...is a bit of a pain. Navigation around it is confusing...some channels (Sky News eg ) don't work and the reception isn't very good. Once you log into the Wi-Fi it works fine. All in all a very enjoyable place to stay and would thoroughly recommend.
We stayed at the Forest Holidays Blackwood Forest resort at the beginning of July 2024. We booked one of the Silver Birch accessible cabins, to use the hot tub hoist. The cabin had lots of room for me to move around, in my electric wheelchair. The kitchen had some lowered worktops, so it was kind of accessible. The resort had a cafe and shop on site. You could even order food and drinks to be delivered, from the comfort of your cabin. You could pre-book different activities to do while you were staying. There are a few things that could be improved within this cabin: * On the first night, we were unable to use the hot tub hoist, because the battery had not been fully charged, from the previous guests. So, it might be a good idea to have a second hoist battery, that can be swapped in (while the first battery is charging) for the next guests. * Some of the mirrors in the cabin, including the one in the accessible shower room, should be at wheelchair level and not at the level of a standing able bodied person. * Lastly, we struggled to see at night, while sitting at the dining room table playing games. It maybe a great idea to have a light hanging over the dining room table. Overall, the whole weekend was a great experience and I will probably visit another Forest Holidays resort in the future. I will recommend these resorts to my family and friends.
