Dioramas illustrating the town's historic role in needle production for sewing & fishing equipment.
Two fantastic museums, I know a needle museum doesn't sound exciting but it really is interesting. And there's a museum built into the old Abbey barn too. There's also plenty to see without paying entrance to the museums with Abbey ruins, info panels, play area and a small coffee hut. A real hidden gem
Forge Mill is in walking distance of Redditch Station and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. But you can go in your car. There is plenty to see. Buy a ticket in the visitor centre for access to the mill and exhibition. You can also go into a field to see the ruins of Bordesley Abbey. Plus a kiosk for coffee, I saw locals with their dogs. Just about enough time to walk back to the station and get the train back. Use Google Maps directions to find on foot.
The old forge mill and monastery ruins. So much learn about the past. So much information we will need a second visit.
Very interesting. Free parking. Be warned if taking children though as there is the skeleton of a Monk from the nearby ruins of an Abbey near by on display, which is short walk away.
Really lovely museum with local archaeology artifacts and history of the mill that was there. Beautiful setting with a lovely park for younger ones as well. They also have some fantastic pop up exhibitions such as the Star wars one at the moment.
This is a really nice hidden gem that is not spoken of enough. Lovely buildings set in wonderful open countryside with small lakes, a small river that keads to the river arrow, great walks, the remains of a 12th century abbey and loads of history. There are picnic events and live music here most months.
