Country house built around turn of 17th century, now featuring historical displays & lodging.
Fantastic day out Unfortunately my partner dislocated her knee as we were leaving The staff who attended were absolutely amazing helping to assist with arranging an ambulance
Fountain Hall is open only on the ground floor. We were disappointed that we couldn't access more.
This is the Hall that was built after the dissolution of the abbey. Some of it is still lived in but a lot of the bottom floor is open and you can see exhibitions about the whole estate. At one point, it was not the main hall in the estate but its successor, Studley Hall, was destroyed in a fire so the original hall remains. It has appeared on TV as well for exterior scenes.
Amazing and extensive ruins. Allow plenty of time. Coffee shop short on pies and such at 2 o'clock.
Have been to Fountains Abbey many times but never noticed the Hall. Went in and found it very interesting. Not all that much to see but what there is was fascinating.
Beautiful period building which can be paid to enter as an added extra on your day visit. A grand entrance opens into a welcoming hall which also has a great armed forces memorial relating to the world wars. A little small compared to a grand period mansion but worth a visit.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Good for kids
