Friars Court is a 17th century part-moated former manor of Clanfield origins dating back to the 12th century. The gardens are open by arrangement for private tours and cream teas can be served. Friars Court is also licensed for civil ceremonies. There are two riverside caravan sites and an 18th holiday cottage on the banks of the Thames.

Went to an outdoor Shakespeare performance of The Winters Tale by the Sun & Moon Theatre Company. Beautiful setting to have a picnic beforehand. Lovely gardens and wonderful atmosphere.
Friars Court Island CL. Charming and friendly owner who finds time to check in on everybody daily and responds swiftly during the booking process. Charles gave us all the local info and his personal tips for food, walks etc etc but to be honest we didn't want to leave the pitch throughout our stay. This is a delightful spot on the riverbank watching the wildlife, boats passing and the wife falling into the Thames from her paddle board ! The field is vast and you get the feeling of open space and seclusion, throwing a ball for dog without the fear of encroachment on others. Observed the grass being cut and again the gentleman stopped for a chat and wished us a safe onward journey , how nice is that Some site's have so many rules and regulations or a giant notice board displayed on arrival but this is simple, carefree and a so welcoming CL Back again soon
We came up from Dorset for my son's wedding there, Lovely location and beautiful gardens for a wedding. We were not staying there.AII went perfect, Thanks Mike
Absolutely stunning place to visit. Blown away by the family heritage history. The location of this superb house is breathtaking and remarkable eco system. I was so honoured to visit here and learn so much from the Owner Charles Willmar. The 500 year old moat was incredible, with all it's amazing wildlife and tranquility. Friars court holds a very special place in my heart.
We got married here in April 2023 and from the moment I first visited I knew Friars Court was perfect . Jeffrey was fantastic from start to finish and helped remove so much of the stress involved in planning a wedding . The day was fantastic , all our guests commented on how beautiful the house and gardens were and we had the most amazing relaxed day with everyone able to enjoy the gardens in the spring sunshine .
When they have their open-garden days, it is well worth a visit. The gardens are lovely, and the cakes/cream teas are fantastic. I would suggest bringing a picnic blanket and a good book.
