A sprawling forest filled with ancient trees, Galgorm Wood is a tranquil oasis in Northern Ireland. The woodland is home to a variety of flora and fauna, with walking trails that wind through the trees, offering scenic views and opportunities to spot local wildlife. The forest floor is carpeted with bluebells in the spring, creating a stunning display of color. With its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty, Galgorm Wood is a popular destination for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
It's a lovely little walk if you are in or near the area. I wouldn't make a special trip to here though. We started at the Dreen Road car park which is the best place to start. A small part of the walk takes you past a noisy factory but the rest of the walk is peaceful. You do eventually find benches. The one which usually overlooks the pond currently overlooks reeds as it's quite over grown but there is a bench overlooking the river a little further on if you take the direction which takes you back to the car park.
Lovely Riverside walk with birds and flowers.
Lovely walk through the woods along the river Maine. Good for dogs.
Lovely walk, my daughter particularly loved the rope swing and the horses in the field. Nice little gym on the way around and the fairy House made out of rock is beautiful. The only downside is the amount of dog poo that is around thar hasn't been picked up
Best bits unfortunately seem to have been sold off to the Galgorm spa for even more holiday cabins. So no access anymore to the pony field, the old church site or the bend in the river where you could watch the kingfishers. Privatisation of the countryside. Someone needs a word with the planning authorities who allowed this.
Peaceful & beautiful walk near the Maine river. A bit mucky in places but that just adds to the enjoyment. A few other people about when I was there - enough to say hello to & make it feel great to be out but not too many.
