Beautiful parkland and woods, with streams and an abundance of wildlife. Incredible bluebells through the late Spring. Fabulous trees. One of the finest arboretums in the UK, awash with the colours of magnificent and rare Rhododendrons and Azaleas in May and June. Shady children's playground within a few yards and full view of the glasshouse cafe which is open every day, serving light meals, home made cakes, ice creams, hot drinks and soft. The cafe is licensed, there can be no more lovely place than its terrace to sit and have a drink looking out across the Tywi Valley.
Lovely green parkland and a beautiful cafe. The glass conservatory allows you to take in the views while enjoying a lovely drink and a bite to eat whatever the weather! As a family of 7, it was very accommodating, with great facilities for the baby (small details include toys and books)
Great place. Caffi Ceirw have tasty refreshments, really friendly staff. Was at Gelli Aur to do a Bird of Prey Experience with Carmarthenshire Falconry which was brilliant, highly recommend.
Lovely scenic deer park and the cafe has recently reopened. They even have doggy ice cream!
After coming to the area for 20 years to visit Aberglasney this was my first visit to Gelli Aur. I had no idea it was there, it really is Carmarthenshire's best kept secret. The house and park have huge potential, with substantial funding this would be a major visitor attraction. As it stands the house is closed, proper signage and information is desperately needed and everything does feel a little run down and in need of attention. But there are plenty of positives, the Arboretum is magnificent, the views wonderful, nice walks and friendly staff in the cafe. Plus it's free to visit, just car parking to pay for. Well worth supporting this place.
Spent several hours at the park really enjoyed. Some spectacular trees, and lovely walk around the estate, dogs welcome too, ours really enjoyed there run. Sad the house not open to the public, but they are working on it.nice day all topped of with coffee and cakes in the cafe
Recommend a visit but don't expect a National Trust experience. This place has more soul! A gallant group of volunteers are resolved to reclaim the house and arboretum from dereliction. The house has amazing views across the Towy valley and the arboretum has some of the most spectacular trees - check out the Western Red Cedars! I would liken the place to a princess waiting to be roused from an enchanted slumber by a heritage lottery fund prince Once you have had a wander do visit the cafe, very welcoming and friendly staff and a lovely cup of coffee.
